  1. Who we are

Working at Forum

Reimagining the way the world works is our day job - and it could be yours too.

Forum for the Future is a leading international sustainability non-profit motivated by a belief that a better future for people and planet is not only possible, but within our grasp.

We know that time to tackle the defining issues of our times - from rising inequality and crashing biodiversity to climate change and economic crisis - is rapidly running out. We also know that these challenges cannot be tackled by any single organisation acting alone.

That’s why, for more than 25 years, we’ve been working in partnership with ambitious businesses, governments and civil society to transform how we live and work.

People and organisations need to think and act very differently today if they are to thrive tomorrow, and Forum’s mission is to create a truly just and regenerative future in which noone is left behind.

That means using systems change and futures expertise to help tackle the climate emergency, transform our food and farming systems, and ensure the supply chains behind everyday goods and services are more resilient and equitable.

Our values

With more than 70 colleagues working out of Singapore, New York, London and Mumbai, we’re an international group of change makers guided by our values, at all times striving to be courageous, adaptive, empathetic, inquisitive, playful and respectful.

So whether you’re helping raise vital income for our work, running sustainability strategy workshops with partners, balancing the books in finance, coaching individuals and organisations on system change practice, working with key stakeholders on the transition to renewable energy or engaging journalists and online influencers, we each play our part in reimagining the way the world works.

It’s a pivotal moment for Forum, and for the sustainability movement. Will you join us?

What's it like to work at Forum?

We asked our team how they would describe Forum as a workplace. Their answers were as diverse as our work. Find out more about why they think Forum is an inquisitive, sia onz, futuristic, pluck, visionary, challenging, nimble, prismatic and emergent place to work.

Meet the team

Why work at Forum?

We are committed to our values and acknowledge individual contributions hence at Forum, we offer various benefits and compensation packages.

    • Benefits: We offer generous annual leave/vacation, sick leave and pay, and family leave provisions. Our staff have retirement provisions and are included in a life insurance policy. Staff in APAC and the US have medical insurance cover. We also offer sabbaticals for staff with accrued length of service. In our London office, staff can benefit from cycle to work scheme and interest free season travel card loan.
    • Our approach to your development: We regularly hold in-house learning opportunities to develop employees’ core skills and learn about our work from each other, and annual away days, when the whole organisation meets to build on our strategy, share knowledge and renew our common commitment. Forum offers a unique benefit of using the inspiration space which is meant to create some clear space for learning and thinking in addition to the learning days, brown bag lunches and other more formal training provided by Forum. All our staff participate in the annual performance appraisal cycle and are offered 360 degree feedback on their performance. There are opportunities to progress within Forum based on performance and career aspirations.

    • Our flexibility: We recognise the value of staff having a healthy balance between home and work life, and we actively support and promote flexible working. We try to accommodate any request to work part-time, work at home, or work flexible hours, as long as it is operationally feasible. We offer time off to care for dependents to deal with emergencies and on compassionate grounds.

    • Your wellbeing: In addition to regular manager-staff check-ins and pastoral care support, all staff have access to independent, free and confidential employee assistance advice (EAP) and, if necessary counselling, on a range of issues, including personal relationships, finances, childcare or work-related issues.

The Five Capitals - a framework for sustainability

The Five Capitals Model provides a basis for understanding sustainability in terms of the economic concept of wealth creation or ‘capital’. Any organisation will use five types of capital to deliver its products or services. A sustainable organisation will maintain and where possible enhance these stocks of capital assets, rather than deplete or degrade them.

We use systems thinking to understand the web of interrelations that create complex problems, anticipate unintended consequences, and identify how and where to take action to meet the SDG goals.
